This week over at Monkeys Fighting Robots, I reviewed The Magicians #1, co-written by Lev Grossman, the writer of the original series of novels. I haven’t read the novels (although my son has & he highly recommends them), but have heard good things. Less so about the television series, but still a solid property. The comic book series (a five-book miniseries from BOOM! Factory) starts off about how you would expect a realistic story about teen-aged magic wielders would: with DRAMA! If you like Pretty Little Liars with less of a Kardashian vibe and more of a Twilight one, this is your comic.
