I was never a huge fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Granted, my experience is from the 80s cartoon & the brutal first movie, but I always dismissed them as lightweight. I had heard about how gritty the original comic was, but I’ve mostly been a Big 2 type of reader, so the whole phenomenon sort of slipped past me. After seeing all the promotional hype for this issue, I jumped on the chance to review it for Monkeys Fighting Robots. Folks, the hyperbole is truth. It’s an incredible read, even if, like me, you’ve never read TMNT before. Do yourself a favor, read my review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles No. 100, go buy the book, and then read the 99 issues before it. You’ll thank me.
